What is Price Rules?

Price Rules is a powerful app that optimizes product pricing and sales campaign management for your Shopify store.

It replaces manual, time-consuming data entry with a flexible rule-based engine. So that you can launch store-wide sales, schedule price changes, and manage complex discount scenarios with ease.

Instead of editing products individually, use Price Rules to filter specific items and apply bulk updates instantly. The app handles the heavy lifting of changing prices and reverting them when a sale ends, ensuring your store data remains accurate.

What Makes Price Rules Different?

Select products using AND/OR/Combination rules to precisely control which items are affected. Every price change is systematically logged, and when a scheduled sale ends, prices are automatically restored to their exact original values, eliminating the inconsistencies common with manual edits.

Advanced Product Filtering

Target products by attributes such as Metafields, Tag, Title, Vendor, Category, etc. You can combine these filters (e.g., “All products by Vendor X that are also tagged Summer are on 20% discount”).


AND/OR/Combination Rules

Control how filters work together. Use Match All (AND) for narrow targeting, Match Any (OR) for broader promotions, or combine logic groups for more complex rule structuring.


Flexible Discount Types

Apply percentage discounts or fixed-amount reductions. You can also create tiered discounts based on price ranges (e.g., “Items within $10 to $20 get 40% off”).


Automated Scheduling

Set specific start and end dates for your sales. The app will activate the prices at the start time and automatically revert them to the original amounts at the end time.


Manual & Automatic Reversion

End a sale early by manual reversion, or have the system automatically restore the original pricing when the schedule ends.


Rounding Rules

Ensure your discounted prices look professional by automatically rounding them to the nearest value (e.g., ending in .95 or .99).


Bulk CSV Uploads

For complex catalogs, you can upload a CSV file to specify exactly which products (identified by SKU, Barcode, or ID) should be included in a sale.


Shopify Tag Syncing

Add and remove Shopify product tags automatically when a rule is published or reverted. It bridges the gap between pricing updates and marketing, enabling campaigns to be triggered in tools like Klaviyo.


Activity & Change Logs

Maintain visibility into pricing operations through detailed rule activity logs. The app tracks rule execution history and status changes to provide a clear audit trail of pricing events.


How Does Sales Creation Work?

When you create a sale in Price Rules, the app directly modifies the Price and Compare-at-Price fields in your Shopify admin.

  1. Selection: You define which products to update through filters or CSV.
  2. Calculation: The app calculates the new price based on your discount rules.
  3. Application: The app updates the product pricing in Shopify. For sale-type rules, the original price is preserved in the Compare-at-Price field, and the discounted value becomes the active selling Price.
  4. Reversion: When the sale expires, the app restores the original values.

Because the app changes the actual product price (rather than applying a discount code at checkout), the lower price is visible to customers immediately on collection and product pages.

  • Seasonal Promotions: Target products based on attributes such as Tags and Vendor (e.g., Apply a 20% discount to all items tagged “Summer-Collection” from the vendor “Nike”).
  • Margin Protection: Use tiered logic to prevent deep discounts on high-value, low-margin items while aggressively discounting cheaper accessories (e.g., 30% off on items priced between $20-$50 and 15% off items priced between $60-$100).
